Chat with other companies – over an open standard

XenRooms shares channels and direct messages with clients and partners over Matrix, the open standard for chat between servers – like Slack Connect, but with any company on XenRooms, Xenaxio or another Matrix server. Your administrator decides with whom.

What you do with it

Any Matrix server

Partners do not need XenRooms: Element, Synapse, Tuwunel and other Matrix servers talk to yours.

The administrator decides

By default companies on Xenaxio and servers on the administrator’s list; all servers, or internal only, at a click.

Clearly marked

Shared channels carry “External”, people from other companies “Other company” with their domain.

Report and block

Invitations from outside are accepted only by choice; unwanted senders are reported and blocked.

Questions

Is XenRooms an alternative to Slack Connect?

Yes. Shared channels and direct messages with other companies work over Matrix, an open standard: your partners can be on XenRooms, Xenaxio or any other Matrix server, not only on one vendor’s network.

Do our partners need XenRooms?

No. Any Matrix server works – for example Element with Synapse, or Tuwunel. If they have no chat yet, they can start XenRooms Free.

Who decides which companies we chat with?

The company’s administrator: internal only, companies on Xenaxio plus a list of servers (the default), or all Matrix servers.

Where are messages of a shared channel stored?

On your chat server and on the servers of the other companies in the channel – that is how Matrix works, like email. Their rules apply there.
